Psychosomatic Disorders

Psychosomatic Disorders

Psychosomatic illnesses are those physical illnesses that result from psychological factors.

These psychological factors are emotions and thoughts which are either for a prolonged time or appear suddenly, but definitely strong enough to erode the person’s inner self slowly and steadily and shatter the person’s being all at once respectively.

The research surrounding psychosomatic illnesses seems to provide scientific evidence that the mind, or a person’s beliefs, emotions and thoughts (stresses), have the ability to cause physical changes. Simply, it can be said that whenever a person meets with a situation in which he has to cope in an adaptive way, and when the mind cannot cope alone, it will take the help of the body; and when the body cannot cope, it will take the help of the mind.

Some might be very skeptical about this idea of mind-body correlations and such skepticisms are valid.

But from my experience of working in this area and the vast literature available in all forms, it’s undoubtedly true that psychosomatic illnesses are growing in number and are seen through all ages.

Some common examples of such illnesses would be Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Frequent upset stomach, Muscle aches, Allergies of all kinds, Tension headaches, Migraine, Chronic fatigue syndrome, Hyperventilation, Thyroid dysfunctions, Panic attacks, Colitis, Infertility, Eczema, Psoriasis and Cardiovascular diseases.

Many metabolic disorders like Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperlipidaemia (high cholesterol), Autoimmune disorders like Multiple sclerosis, Systemic lupus erythematous, Psoriasis, Celiac disease; Endocrinal disorders like Female hormonal problems, Thyroid dysfunctions, Diabetes, sexual dysfunctions; Nervous disorders like Epilepsy, Panic disorders, Tics, Tourette’s, Somatoform disorders are all Psychosomatic illnesses and can be very well be treated with Homoeopathy.

Why homoeopathy can treat psychosomatic disorders wonderfully:

Homoeopathic science believes in treating the person as a whole. Any ailment whether mental or physical, is treated only after considering the holistic picture (Case taking) of the case. Thus the Homoeopathic approach of looking at every case as a whole is based on the logic that every human being functions as a unit of mind-body-spirit.

In any Psychosomatic illness, if the ill body and mind both are treated at the same time, as a unit, then only a qualitative, long lasting and permanent cure can be bought about.
